Dr Grace Croft was Mater’s first Assistant Director of Nursing (Research), and was instrumental in the development of Mater’s Nursing Research Centre in 1992.

In 1996, the centre became responsible for The Queensland Centre for Evidence Based Nursing and Midwifery, a collaborating centre of The Joanna Briggs Institute, with Dr Croft as the inaugural Director. Dr Croft resigned from this position in 2002.

Dr Croft had decades of experience in both nursing and nursing research, and her Mater knowledge saw her sit on the Steering Committee for Helen Gregory’s 2006 publication, Expressions of Mercy, Brisbane’s Mater Hospitals 1906-2006.

Dr Croft passed away peacefully on 10 October 2015.

May her soul rest in eternal peace.
